Canadian Canoe Museum

Home of the world’s largest collection of canoes and kayaks, the museum effectively connects Canadians, their heritage and the Canadian landscape. Dramatic new exhibits tell the story of Aboriginal, French and British cultures, taking you on a journey through a Mi’kmaq encampment, an original 1876 trading post, the voyageur era, mapping expeditions, summer camps, canoe factories, cottaging and regattas.

Ecology Park

Hutchison House Museum

Indian River Reptile Zoo

Peterborough Summer Festival of Lights

Peterborough Hydraulic Lift Lock & Visitor Centre

At 19.8 m (65’, about the height of a seven story building,) the Peterborough Lift Lock is the largest hydraulic lift lock in the world. This engineering marvel and National Historic Site continues to impress countless visitors from around the world. Stop at the Lift Lock Visitor Centre to see a working model of the lift lock, exhibits, and a film, or to shop at the Nautical Nook Gift Shop. The park along the canal is dotted with picnic tables- great for a leisurely afternoon. |

Petroglyphs Provincial Park

Features the largest concentration of native rock carvings in Canada, carved by Algonkian-speaking Aboriginal people between 600 and 1,000 years ago. The park also features an extensive network of rugged, well-marked trails that lead hikers through quiet forests, wetlands and rocky ridges. During the summer months, take part in a guided night walk of the petroglyphs site.
Riverview Park & Zoo

A 55-acre park and zoo featuring 27 exhibits with over 40 species, including yaks, camels, wallabies, emus, parrots, monkeys, cougars, poison arrow frogs and meerkats. The park also features a miniature train, a children's playground and water spray pad, and a large picnic area along Otonabee River (complete with picnic tables). Admission is absolutely free, and the park is open from dawn until dusk.

Warsaw Caves Conservation Area

Featuring 8 cave networks open to the public to explore. All that’s needed is a flashlight, a helmet and some sturdy footwear. The park also features a swimming beach, camping facilities, a canoe launch and rentals, and over 20km of nature trails, some of which feature spectacular views of the Indian River, high atop a 100ft. cliff face. |
